Woman Has Unexpected Reaction to Surprise Baby Shower: 'Walk Away'

The thought of a baby shower surprise was too much for this mom-to-be, who left TikTok in stitches with her unexpected reaction.

While expecting her baby, Brooke Skinner had no idea that her friends and family would arrange a special brunch to celebrate the impending arrival. However, the shock was a little too overwhelming for Skinner, because as soon as she spotted everyone seated at the table, she turned around and walked away.

It was too much for her, but she wanted to celebrate with everyone, so she turned back and tried again. But not this time either, as she had to "walk away" one more time before she was finally ready. Third time's a charm as they say, and eventually Skinner managed to face the crowd on the third time of asking.

The hilarious clip has delighted many social media users, and since being posted on February 10 (@brooke.skinnerr), it has been viewed over 1.4 million times and gained more than 139,800 likes.

Layered over the footage, Skinner wrote: "When your friends surprise you with a baby shower brunch, but your hormones take over."

Frequent crying spells are commonplace during pregnancy, and many women will be able to relate. As explained by WebMD, mood swings and the need to cry are completely normal during pregnancy due to the hormonal changes in the body. They also note that becoming a mom is a significant change in a woman's life, so there is a lot of emotional baggage to deal with as well.

While there's no tried-and-tested way of stopping the crying spells, WebMD recommends that women should get plenty of sleep each night to help relieve stress, get regular physical exercise, and eat healthily.

Once Skinner finally sat at the table with her friends and family, she couldn't stop "uncontrollably sobbing," and through the flow of tears she said: "I didn't even get cute." This left everyone around her in stitches, as they certainly weren't expecting her uncontrollable reaction at the time.

Skinner couldn't resist sharing the hilarious moment on TikTok with her followers, as she joked that "the end just about sums it all up." Fortunately, she was able to laugh about it in the end.

With over 180 comments on the post at the time of writing, many TikTok users lauded Skinner's response to the baby shower surprise, with some praising her friends for their thoughtful gesture.

One comment reads: "Almost a 3rd walk away killed me lmao."

Another person responded: "The pregnancy crying is so REAL!! I once started crying looking at an apple one day!"

While another TikToker commented: "Sometimes I wish I had friends lmao this is so cute."
