Women's March NYC Schedule: Route, Map, Start Time for New York City Event

Alongside the success of the 2017 Women's March in Washington, D.C., New York City created a similar event for women to attend. In its third year, there will actually be two competing marches in the Big Apple.

The Women's March Alliance was responsible for the first two marches in New York City and holds the event in support of gender equality. As an independent non-profit, the organization said they are committed to advancing the civil rice of women regardless of their faith, sexual identity and preference, race, cultural or religious background or political affiliation.

Where and When Is the Women's Alliance March?

The Women's March Alliance event will take place on Saturday, January 19 regardless of the weather. Event attendees should lineup at 10 a.m. EST with the official event beginning at 11 a.m. EST and lasting until 4 p.m. EST. The march will kick off at 61st Street and Central Park West and then head south around Columbus Circle. Going east on 59th Street, the march will turn south on Sixth Avenue before reaching the finish line at 44th Street and Sixth Avenue.

Instead of a large rally, the Women's March Alliance decided to do a short kickoff, which is expected to last about 15 minutes.

The Women's March Alliance's website made it clear that they are not affiliated with the Women's March or its founder.

"We do not support any organization or person that is anti-Semitic, anti-gay, anti-woman or does not support equal rights for every human," the website stated.

Along with the Women's March Alliance, New York City has its own chapter of the Women's March, which will be hosting the Women's Unity Rally.

"The Women's Unity Rally in NYC will highlight the leadership of Black women, immigrant women and women of color as part of the national #WomensWave, and in response to the Trump Administration's continued assault on immigrant communities and communities of color," the event page stated.

Where and When Is the Women's Unity Rally March?

The Women's Unity Rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. EST. Located in Foley Square in Downtown New York City, Women's March NYC director Agunda Okeyo told The Gothamist that the event will be about expressing a "progressive wishlist and vision for 2019."

Unlike the Women's March Alliance's event, the Women's Unity Rally won't include any mass march. Participants must register to attend and as of Wednesday afternoon, more than 4,000 RSVPs were collected.

Also happening on Saturday is the main Women's March, which is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C.
