To download and play the games, you'll need to ensure you have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. If your subscription runs out, you'll no longer be able to access any of the games downloaded through the program, even if you have them saved on your hard drive. The second your subscription is renewed, you'll be able to play as much as you want again.

Xbox One

The first free game for Xbox One owners in May is Super Mega Baseball 2. Because Sony owns the MLB license, this is the best baseball game Xbox One gamers will be able to play. Super Mega Baseball 2 will be free to download from May 1 - 31.

The biggest draw of the month, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be free to download from May 16 to June 15. This open-world game offers nearly limitless possibilities when it comes to completing missions, and will likely be the final major game in the Metal Gear series. If you haven't played it yet, now's the perfect time to give Metal Gear Solid V a try.

Xbox 360

The first game available for Xbox 360 users is the Streets of Rage collection. Originally released on the SEGA Genesis, the Streets of Rage collection includes the first three Streets of Rage games. If you're a fan of co-op or side-scrolling beat-em-ups, there's plenty to love here. The Streets of Rage collection is available to download from May 1 to 15.

The final free Games With Gold offering in May is the cult hit Vanquish. This third-person shooter has players don a high-tech mech suit that can be used to move around a battlefield incredibly quickly. While navigating a fight, players also have to gun down any enemies within sight. Definitely give this a try when it becomes free to download from May 16 to 31.

So what do you think? Are you interested in trying any of the free Games With Gold for May? What games do you hope will be free in June? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
