A youth minister in Oregon was arrested for trying to have a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he met at a church camp, according to reports. Police said they believed there could be more victims since the man worked with youth.
Police in Beaverton, Oregon, arrested pastor Ryan Mutchler, 30, on charges of second-degree online corruption of a child and luring a minor. Ryan Mutchler was arrested earlier this month and released on $10,000 bail posted by his wife, according to oregonlive.com and other media outlets, citing Beaverton police and Washington County court records.
Police said they were alerted to Mutchler's alleged behavior by the parents of a 14-year-old girl who saw messages on their child's mobile phone. Mutchler reportedly met the girl at a weeklong summer church camp in June. Police said that once alerted, they used the girl's phone and got Mutchler to take part in a conversation over several days "which outlined Mutchler's desires to have a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl," the Portland Tribune reported.
Mutchler was a youth pastor at Mountain Park Church in Lake Oswego, Oregon. A senior pastor at Mountain Park Church told the news site Patch that Mutchler was fired after his arrest, oregonlive.com reported.
"A short bio on the youth pastor's Twitter page, which has since been deleted, reads: 'Love God. Love Others. Grow a Beard. Eat a Burrito. Drink Coffee," according to oregonlive.com.
