Zendaya's Boohoo Edit Line Draws Criticism for Lack of Plus-Size Options

Finding fashionable clothing in plus-size options isn't always easy. But actress Zendaya aimed to accommodate this caliber of shoppers with her new line, The Zendaya Edit. Still, her collection managed to draw criticism from fans on social media for apparently failing to supply larger sizes as advertised.

The 21-year-old's line launched via boohoo.com Wednesday. It was supposed to offer attire in US sizes 4-22. However, a fan was disappointed to discover that plus-size options weren't available to purchase. "Really disappointed to find that @Zendaya 's boohoo edit (advertised for sizes 2-20) does not have inclusive sizing across the board," a fan wrote on in a tweet.

The Spider-Man Homecoming took to Twitter to respond to the upset customer. "I've looked into it," she wrote. "Apparently the curve sizes sold out first and that's why they're not showing up as available."

Zendaya's representatives did not immediately return Newsweek's request for comment. But boohoo responded to a similar customer's request. The company informed them that "more plus size will be available soon."

"Due to technical issues with our website, we want to apologize for not having all sizes available of the new product on our exciting launch day," boohoo said in a statement issued to Newsweek. "We are working quickly to solve the problem and look forward to offering the full range of the Zendaya edit as soon as possible."

Zendaya's collection with boohoo is the online retailer's largest partnership worldwide featuring an American actress. "Zendaya is everything the boohoo girl is, and we can't wait to have her on board with us for spring," said Carol Kane, CEO and Co-Founder of boohoo.com. "Shot in her hometown of L.A., the campaign was styled by Law Roach and photographed by Zoey Grossman."

The collection features more than 50 pieces personally selected by Zendaya. The '90s-feeling line is inspired by her own style as it incorporates runway trends like athleisure. "I think the best thing about my personal style is I don't have just one," she said. Prices for the products range from $5 to $100.

This wouldn't be the first time Zendaya's explored the business side of fashion. The singer-actress launched an inclusive collection, called Daya by Zendaya, last May. And by the end of 2017, her net worth stood at $5 million.

This story was updated to include a statement from boohoo.
