Chef Anthony Bourdain was found dead in his France hotel room on Friday from an apparent suicide. In a statement, CNN confirmed the death of the 61-year-old star, whose contagious love for both fine dining and unusual cuisine broadened the culinary horizons of his viewers.
"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," the network, which hosted Bourdain's shows, said in a statement Friday morning. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."
The 61-year-old—a lover of restaurants big and small—hosted a slew of television shows, including A Cook's Tour (2002 to 2003), No Reservations (2005 to 2012), The Layover (2011 to 2013) and, of course, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
Parts Unknown, perhaps the star's most acclaimed series, is available to stream on Netflix and can be purchased on Amazon and Google Play.
