Mary Trump Roasts Donald Trump Over Canceled Rally

Donald Trump's estranged niece is continuing to hit out at him on social media, mocking the former president's ongoing legal struggles after he canceled a rally in North Carolina over the weekend.

Mary Trump—daughter of Donald Trump's late brother Fred Trump—is a long-time critic of her uncle.

The presumptive Republican presidential candidate, Trump is back on the campaign trail ahead of November's general election. However, he was forced to cancel his North Carolina rally due to a storm warning on Saturday, with Mary Trump mocking the 77-year-old on X, formerly Twitter.

"You know what doesn't get canceled because of rain?" she asked her 1.6 million followers. "A criminal trial."

Since being shared on Monday, Mary Trump's post has received over 320,000 views.

Newsweek has reached out to Donald Trump for comment via email.

Donald Trump's New York criminal trial began on April 15. The business magnate is accused of falsifying business documents, allegedly to cover up "hush money" payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 general election.

Daniels—whose real name is Stephanie Clifford—claims to have had a one-night stand with Trump in 2006, while the real estate mogul's wife, Melania Trump, was pregnant with their son Barron.

Trump has rebuffed both the affair with Daniels and the charges against him.

Although she used to deny being related to the politician, Mary Trump published a tell-all book on Donald and the Trump family in 2020. Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man was a bestseller, with over 1 million copies sold in the first week alone.

On Saturday, Mary Trump accused Fox News of "disturbing" interference in the New York trial, after host Jesse Watters suggested "undercover liberal activists" were "lying to the judge."

"Normally, my issue with the corporate media is their failure to shine a light on stories that matter," she wrote on X.

"But in this case, it seems some segments of the corporate media, primarily Fox, is hellbent on helping Donald interfere with his trial through jury intimidation. It's a disturbing reality that we must confront."

On Wednesday, she suggested her uncle was starting to "fray at the edges" in a Substack post.

The psychologist suggested the rules imposed on Trump by Judge Juan Merchan would cause him to "freak out."

"[Donald Trump] is not free to come and go as he pleases," she wrote. "He doesn't handle it well when he feels like the walls are closing in on him.

"He freaks out—and acts out—when he feels thwarted because he so rarely ever has been."

She continued: "He will be seen to be rude, weak, and incapable of controlling himself when bound by the same rules to which the rest of us must conform. Even after one day, it was clear Donald wasn't faring well."
