Woman Reveals How She Secured Dream Job Without Even Applying

The job market can be hard to navigate, and, with so much rising competition among job seekers, it is very much not an easy task.

However, a woman from London has reassured the internet after sharing how she managed to get the job of her dreams without even having to apply for it. In a post shared on TikTok on Tuesday, under the username @ashleighspili, the 25-year-old Ashleigh says that, after she found her dream company on social media and realized it wasn't hiring, she came up with a brilliant idea that secured her a new position.

"I actually want to tell you how I got my job, [because] I think this is such a life hack to avoid long interview processes," Ashleigh can be heard saying in the clip.

Data shared earlier in the year by Statista reveals that, as of March 2024, around 6.6 million people in America were unemployed and actively looking for a job. The number has gone up from last year at the same time, when it was about 6.04 million.

In the viral clip, Ashleigh said: "I feel like so many of my friends when they get in this situation [they're] like, 'Oh, I'll just keep an eye out for when jobs come up.' No, don't wait! So many companies are considering hiring, but they've got so much on and they haven't had time to put the job advert out, but they are actually open to it."

So, instead of waiting for a job opening, Ashleigh took the matter into her own hands, and reached out to the founder of the company, saying why she wanted to join them and why she would be a good fit.

Ashleigh said: "So I used the 'edit anything' extension on Google Chrome, and Canva, and I basically turned their website into my CV... Then I downloaded that as PDF and then I sent an email to the founder. Basically, my subject line was my name and then it was dash proposal to hustle.

"I just sent an email and I was like, 'Look, I know you're not hiring, but I am so passionate about what you guys do, I love the ethos of your company; here's why I would be amazing to work for you, and here's why I really believe that you should hire me.'"

Needless to say, the company founder was very pleasantly surprised by the email, and invited her over for an informal chat.

"The founder of the company replied to me and she was like, I can make seats at the table for people that have this attitude," Ashleigh said.

"I had a coffee with her, the associate director, who is also a total babe, and we literally never did any formal interview process. It had none of that stress, none of that like, round and round and round of competition. No one else was applying so there was no one I was up against.

"We just clicked, and next thing I know, I've been offered a job, and it's changed my life. I love my job so much. I go to work every day, and I'm so inspired by the people around me, and this can happen for you as well. There is absolutely no reason to wait for the interview to come up," Ashleigh added.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received almost 1 million views and over 104,600 likes on the platform.

However, the poster wasn't the only one who managed to get her dream job this way; in fact, the comment section is filled with users sharing similar stories.

One user, 82mary_, commented: "I had done all my research and found the office for me. Walked in one day. Chatted to one of the partners. Been there two years now."

Heaven posted: "Very true, I emailed my CV and portfolio to a company for an internship (they weren't hiring) and I got the job!!"

Jaimie Clement added: "I love this, this is so inspiring! esp for me currently looking for basically a career change which has been hard. thank you for sharing."
