Ever since 1937, when Disney Studios released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney has had a hold over cinema-lovers.

Be it animated classics like The Jungle Book and Cinderella, live action remakes of... well, The Jungle Book and Cinderella, or modern day faourites including Ratatouille and Inside Out—a Disney movie means cash will be splashed at the box office.

With Disney acquiring Marvel in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012, the studios have even more box office juggernauts under their belts.

Below, we look at Disney's top 20 highest-grossing movies of all time at box office, using worldwide figures from movie database The Numbers.

20. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been extremely lucrative for Disney, and the second installment, Dead Man's Chest, became the highest grossing movie of 2006.

The swashbuckler starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley also became the fastest film at the time to gross over $1 billion at the box office.

19. Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 didn't just make all of us cry, it was Pixar's highest-grossing film to date at the time.

The computer-animated film, released in 2010, saw Woody, Buzz and co accidentally donated to a daycare centre when Andy went off to college.

It was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and passed the billion dollar mark at the box office. It was also one of the most expensive animated films ever made.

The 2016 sequel to Captain America and Captain America: Winter Soldier was the most successful of the trilogy, and was also that year's highest grossing film.

While it is believed Chris Evans has hung up his shield, a fourth film starring Anthony Mackie is in the works.

Three is a magic number, and the third Iron Man is the most successful of the bunch.

The seventh film in the MCU, starring Robert Downey Jr. as the titular hero, aka Tony Stark received Best Visual Effects nominations at the Academy Awards and the BAFTA Awards.

7. Avengers: Age of Ultron

3. Avengers: Infinity War
