Throughout season seven of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans have seen Menzies and Umar, who first appeared on season five of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, try to navigate a long-distance relationship. The couple have debated the issues surrounding their ability to have children.

At the beginning of the latest episode, Menzies, 52, who lives in the U.S., revealed that her mom had passed away unexpectedly, shortly after she returned from her most-recent trip to Nigeria to visit Umar, 34.

But, as Menzies coped with the loss of one family member, her fiancé was considering adding a new one.

In the most-recent episode, which aired on Sunday, November 27, Menzies was left stunned as Umar, while on a call with his fiancée, said: "I feel like maybe I'm going to adopt."

"What? What? Are you joking right now?" a shocked Menzies responded.

As fans of the show know, the issue of children has been a major hurdle for the couple as Umar's mother has demanded a child from her son, but Menzies is unable to conceive, due to her age.

At one point, the couple decided that Umar would have a second wife to produce children with, but they had to abandon this plan after learning that, while this is acceptable in Umar's home country of Nigeria, it would have an impact on him being able to secure a visa for the U.S.

"If getting a second wife is something that can't happen, I think adopting my nephew Mahadi would be the best idea," Umar said on the call with Menzies, saying that he is thinking of adopting his brother Mohammed's son.

"So your brother gives you his baby. What? Then who the f*** raises his child?" Menzies said, to which Umar replied: "I'm asking, do you want to raise him?"

"No, I'm too old," Menzies said. "I don't know if I want to raise another child, like I raised mine. You know what I'm saying?"

Menzies then added in her confessional interview: "I'm in total shock. Like, this is a WTF moment," before she and Umar were seen agreeing to discuss it further in the future.

90 Day Fiancé fans were equally perplexed by Umar's suggestion, and some pointed out that the timing may not have been great, considering Menzies was still grieving for her mom.

"Usman sprung that adoption idea out of nowhere on Kim!!" wrote one fan on Twitter as the episode of 90 Day Fiancé aired.

"Well Usman is asking Kim to be the mother of a 3 year old son & to raise him in America full time. How? That [isn't] even something I would spring on a woman. If they were in person she would toss a milkshake in his face," tweeted another.

A third viewer wrote: "Kim betta have a friend come out of the wood works and slap the taste outta her mouth if she can't realize on her own that Usman wants to adopt his brother's child JUST to get him a ticket to the states!"

During a separate conversation with Jamal, 25, her son from a previous relationship, Menzies revealed that her mom's passing had made her reflect on her engagement to Umar.

While talking with Jamal, who is yet to meet Umar, Menzies said that she is more sure than ever of her romantic connection with her fiancé, and that she wants them to live together.

"It's really super important to me now with my mom's passing that Usman comes to the States to be with me," Menzies added.

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
