Alexander Vindman, Trump Whistleblower, Stars in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Finale

Alexander Vindman, the former U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and whistleblower whose testimony led to the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump, was the surprise guest star in the season finale of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Instead of a fleeting cameo, Vindman played a crucial role in the episode's plot as the sitcom's star Larry David, playing a fictionalized version of himself, attempted to repeal a law meaning a five-foot fence must be placed around his pool by seducing City Councilwoman Irma Kostroski (Tracey Ullman).

The final episode of the 11th series saw Susie Greene (Susie Essman), the wife of David's best friend and manager Jeff Greene (Jeff Garlin) throw a party for the man who testified that he heard Trump ask Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to launch a probe into Joe Biden and his son Hunter over alleged interference in a corruption investigation in exchange for U.S. military aid.

Upon hearing the news, David described how he "loves" the man who served as the top Ukraine expert on Trump's National Security Council, calling Vindman a "hero" for testifying against the former president.

Later on in the episode, reference is made to Trump's "perfect call" defense as Vindman confronts David after he overheard a phone conversation where he plots to ensure the fence law be repealed for his own benefit.

While promoting his appearance on the show on Twitter, Vindman wrote: "I had a great time on Curb Your Enthusiasm! You can watch the season finale now on HBO Max. I would like to thank [Fellow Curb star] J.B. Smoove for his suggestion that I title my next book: China and Russia, On That Sh*t.

"Also, thank you to Larry David, Jeff Schaffer, Cheryl Hines, Susie Essman, and my LA girl Melanie Minichino for a great experience!"

In a review of the season finale, The Wrap described it as "fairly disappointing" and noted that Vindman is "not the best comedic actor."

However, others praised Vindman's appearance on social media after the show aired.

"I cannot believe we just had a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode centered around Alexander Vindman," wrote author and journalist Jacob Shamsian.

Twitter user Lydia Hall wrote: "Alexander Vindman guest starring on #CURB is just the hilarious randomness I love to see."

Fellow social media user Tim Mack added: "Pretty cool that Curb's season finale includes Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. A nice treat for a man that showed a ton of courage in Trump's first impeachment."
