Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford's Red Carpet Blanket Look Sparks Jokes

Billie Eilish and her boyfriend Jesse Rutherford are being mocked following their red carpet debut.

The couple stepped out at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, November 5, wearing matching Gucci looks and posed for photos underneath an oversized blanket from the brand.

The "Bad Guy" singer, 20, wore a floor-length skirt and lace camisole with a sleep mask and robe, while her partner, 31, opted for a pajama-style shirt and pants with slippers.

As photos of the couple started making the rounds online, fans took to Twitter to post jokes and memes.

Grammy-nominated songwriter Chelcee Grimes—who has written tunes for Kesha, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, Blackpink, and others—wrote, "Me turning up to work from the 1st December."

"I know it costs a fortune to put the heating on, but you would of [sic] thought they could afford it," one user said on the social media platform, while a third added, "Me, everyday at 3 am going to the kitchen to get snacks from the fridge during winters."

Another user, meanwhile, asked, "On the carpet or in the carpet?"

"An homage to Choco Taco I see," teased one user.

One user chimed in, "They look like an adult high school couple that hangs out at the mall, and I mean that in the most derogatory way," as another joked, "Going to the store near your house during winter."

The comments come after the pair received backlash for their Halloween costumes.

Eilish and Rutherford—the lead singer in the band The Neighbourhood—dressed as a baby and an elderly man this year, seemingly poking fun at their 11-year age gap.

While many called the costumes "weird" and "creepy," others termed them "incredibly sick and twisted," noting, "It's not funny or chic... it's disturbing."

The pair first sparked romance rumors in October when they were spotted kissing outside the popular Los Angeles restaurant Lal Mirch. Eilish later posted a photo of Rutherford to her Instagram.

Prior to going public with the "Daddy Issues" artist, Eilish dated Matthew Tyler Vorce.

The California native was also romantically linked to rapper 7:AMP—whose real name is Brandon Quention Adams—for nearly a year before their breakup in 2019.

"I just wasn't happy, and I didn't want the same things he wanted, and I don't think that's fair for him," the pop star explained in her Apple TV+ documentary The World's a Little Blurry. "I don't think you should be in a relationship super excited about certain things that the other person couldn't care less about. I don't think that's fair to you. I didn't think that was fair to him."

Previously, Eilish said that she tries to keep her relationships as far out of the spotlight as possible.

"I've had relationships and kept them private," the Grammy winner said during an appearance on Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp in September 2020. "And even the ones that I've had; with the tiny amount that I've let the world see, I regret."
