Caitlyn Jenner Doubles Down on Bud Light

Caitlyn Jenner is doubling down on her support of Bud Light following fierce backlash online.

The former Olympian backed Donald Trump's calls to give the beer brand a "second chance" on Monday, leading to a barrage of brutal anti-transgender trolling online.

Bud Light was subject to a conservative boycott in 2023 over its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, leading to a 30 percent drop in sales since April 2023.

On Wednesday, Jenner lashed out at critics on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter, while reaffirming her allegiance to Trump.

"I. Don't. Care. It's nothing to me," the 74-year-old wrote, alongside a Daily Beast article on the social media backlash.

"I value people's freedom of speech and diversity of thought," she wrote. "I care about fighting against the radical gender ideology cult!

"MORE IMPORTANTLY I CARE ABOUT TAKING OUR COUNTRY BACK by electing @realDonaldTrump."

Newsweek has reached out to Caitlyn Jenner and Donald Trump for comment via email.

In a post to his social network Truth Social on Monday, Trump asked followers to drop the boycott campaign against Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev.

"The Bud Light ad was a mistake of epic proportions, and for that a very big price was paid, but Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company," the 77-year-old wrote.

Describing Bud Light as a "Great American brand," Trump suggested conservatives go after "those companies that are looking to DESTROY AMERICA!"

A Republican lobbyist for Anheuser-Busch is hosting a Trump fundraiser next month, with the business mogul holding $5 million in Bud Light stock.

On Tuesday, Jenner defended Anheuser-Busch InBev, calling them an "incredible American company" on X.

"I raced for @AnheuserBusch in the 80's I agree with @realDonaldTrump," the reality star wrote. "Look at what the company does for so many Americans and their track record over the years."

Jenner agreed that the brewing company had "paid a large price" for its social media partnership with Mulvaney, which she said was a "huge mistake."

"I think it is time to move forward," she added. "I am saying we should focus on big picture...agreeing with 45!"

However, Jenner's post led to savage trolling in the comments section, with user Tom Joyce proclaiming: "Caitlyn Jenner has gone woke."

"A transgender person says Bud Light isn't woke? Great endorsement!" said Nick D'Agostino.

"The lack of self awareness here is absolutely stunning," wrote Coco.

"We won't come back without an apology. All they have to say is sorry," said @jcibme, while Tom Ferry declared the boycott "still on!!!"

"They aren't an American company anymore," said @MoonHowler71, referencing the company's merger with Belgium-based InBev in 2008.

However, some users agreed with Jenner, with @thepeopleofwa writing: "Americans oughta support Americans, period."

"They do employ a heck of a lot of people in St. Louis and around the country," said @thehighdoge.

"They made a mistake forgive and forget..." commented Rose. "We are bigger morally than destroying a company."

Jenner's support for Trump has waxed and waned over the years. The Olympic gold medal winner, who identifies as a Republican, backed Trump in the 2016 general election, but has since criticized him several times on social media.

In 2017, Jenner hit out at Trump after he quashed federal requirements permitting transgender students to use the school bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity.

In 2018, she condemned his reinstatement of a ban on transgender people signing up for the military.

Jenner withdrew her support for the real estate magnate, but the pair appear to have since mended fences. She was spotted shaking hands with Trump at a golf tournament in 2022, and has since praised the politician multiple times online.
