Dad Sees Women Making Flower Crowns, Asks for Help for Heartwarming Reason

A daddy's girl is still a daddy's girl, even when she's not around.

A viral video posted by Eve (@evelinafaerie) revealed a heartwarming spontaneous moment while she made flower crowns outside. A stranger asked her for help to make one for his daughter. Since the TikTok video was posted less than 24 hours ago, it has received nearly 995,000 likes and over 2,000 comments from viewers gushing over the importance of fatherhood.

"We were making flower crowns and a dad sat next to us and tried to make [one] for his daughter, and later he asked us for help to finish it," Eve captioned the video. "Of course we helped him, and we were all happy."

The video brought to light the emotional benefits and consequences of a father's involvement—or non-involvement—in his daughter's life. Many praised the man for his obvious commitment to his daughter.

"I'm crying," @ewash972 said. "He's making a crown for his daughter, that's why dads are the best people on this Earth."

Several commenters found the video similarly emotional, but for personal reasons, citing the impact of an absent father on their lives.

"I'm a simple woman," @skunkdoll said. "I see a TikTok with a good father, I cry."

"The whole time my father was in rehab, he was making a huge portrait painting of me. He never got to finish it and I'm genuinely so sad," @bunny.minjun wrote.

"I wonder what it would have been like to have a dad who was able to care," @itsalovelyideabut said. "Thank you for helping him!"

Some saw the man's efforts for his daughter as something to "strive for", to make up for the lack of fatherly affection in their own childhoods.

Father-Daughter Relationships Mutually Beneficial

Viewers aren't wrong to place such emphasis on the father-daughter relationship.

A study published in 2018 by the Journal of Adolescence found that fathers play a crucial role in children's development. Researchers found that the father-daughter relationship especially is "directly related to higher levels of well-being and lower levels of ill-being."

The findings suggest that this relationship "significantly influences mental health of adolescent girls", and a stronger father-daughter relationship predicted greater satisfaction of psychological needs.

But the inverse is also true: in a study published by the American Journal of Human Biology, researchers found that the number of daughters was positively correlated with a longer lifespan for their fathers. Strikingly, the number of sons did not have a notable effect on the lifespan of their fathers.

Research shows that the father-daughter relationship is unique—and viewers on TikTok are certainly offering anecdotes to support this.

"Cries in daddy issues," @giyuuof wrote. "Oh, to be loved like that by a father."
