Guard Dog 'Remote Working' Has Internet in Stitches

When you think of a guard dog you probably picture a big doberman barking at strangers from behind the yard fence, but in this case the hound has mastered remote working.

A dog owner from London has left the internet in stitches after sharing a clip of her unusual guard dog protecting his home...without even getting out of bed.

In a post shared on TikTok on Wednesday, under the username chorizotheminidachshund, the pup can be heard barking loud and menacingly, as he warns off potential intruders, buried beneath her bed blankets.

A caption shared along with the hilarious clip says: "Being a guard dog doesn't mean you have to get out of bed." Followed by: "Staying safe and comfy."

Dachshunds are great companions, lapdogs, and family dogs, and despite their size, they can also make excellent watchdogs.

There are two different types of dachshunds, the standard size and the miniature one, although the traits of the breed are common to both types. They are usually energetic, clever, and playful, but they can also be very stubborn.

According to The Spruce Pets, these little pups are prone to obesity, and to avoid that they need regular exercise, ideally a couple of walks of at least 10 minutes every single day, plus extra play time at home.

The video quickly went viral on TikTok, where it has received over 643,900 views and 75,300 likes on the platform.

One user, Tanayar, commented: "I just knew it was a dachshund. No matter what they aren't getting out from under the blanket." Kasia K wrote: "Remote working."

Mel said: "My dachshund does the same thing so glad I have him to protect me." And Makeastatement_Artistry added: "That's [my] dog.. except she is a huge bull mastiff x that's scared of everything."

Another user, Krystena Lucas, commented: "I could swear this is my dog! but in a different house and room and definitely not in the same blanket. Why do they feel like guarding under a blanket behind walls will do anything."

Newsweek reached out to chorizotheminidachshund for comment via TikTok chat. We could not verify the details of the case.
