Fake Henry Cavill James Bond Trailer Viewed Over 1 Million Times

As speculation mounts over who will be the next James Bond, a fake trailer of Henry Cavill playing the role has gone viral online.

Daniel Craig played the iconic spy for 15 years and after he hung up his tuxedo for good in 2021, producers started looking for a new actor to take over. While several A-listers have been speculated to reprise the role, in March The Sun reported that Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson had been "formally offered" the part of the new 007. However, the British actor has yet to confirm the rumors.

Before Taylor-Johnson became a top contender for Bond, several big names were rumored to be taking on the role. Cavill was rumored to be the next 007 after his exit from the DC Universe, while Regé-Jean Page was suggested following his breakout role in Bridgerton.

Richard Madden, who played Robb Stark in Games of Thrones, was also mentioned, along with Beauty and the Beast's Luke Evans, English actor James Norton and A-lister Tom Hiddleston.

Now a spoof trailer circulating online has shown why fans think Cavill would be a terrific choice to take over the iconic character—and why Margot Robbie would be a great Bond girl.

Newsweek emailed spokespeople for Cavill and Robbie for comment Monday.

KH Studio uploaded the trailer to YouTube, using clips from other movies and AI technology to create it. At the time of writing, it had been viewed 1,317,349 times.

After various shots are shown at the beginning, including one of Cavill's back, Robbie's voice can be heard narrating in the background. "We're not like the others. We can have much more than anyone else. The problem is, that the world is too small for both of us," she said.

When her narration ends, the screen cuts to black, before Cavill is shown tied to a chair and various other action-packed scenes follow. During the trailer, the words "Coming soon" and "Get ready" are shown on screen, as well as Cavill and Robbie's names.

"Henry Cavill and Margot Robbie star in James Bond 26 with filming planned for 2024!" the summary reads.

"Hollywood heavyweights Henry Cavill and Margot Robbie are slated to take on the iconic roles in the highly anticipated Bond 26. This latest installment in the legendary franchise promises to deliver espionage thrills and heart-pounding action like never before."

It also states in the (fictional) description that James Bond 26 would be directed by filmmaker Christopher Nolan and backed by MGM Studios and Universal.

However, to ensure people don't think the trailer is the real deal, the summary continues: "Attention viewers! Please note that this video is a concept trailer created solely for artistic and entertainment purposes. I have meticulously incorporated various effects, sound design, AI technologies, movie analytics, and other elements to bring my vision to life.

"Its purpose is purely artistic, aiming to entertain and engage with the YouTube community. My goal is to showcase my creativity and storytelling skills through this trailer. Thank you for your support, and let's dive into the world of imagination!"

Newsweek has contacted KH Studio for comment by email.

People took to the comment section of the video to share how much they love the trailer, even though it isn't real.

"If only...this is the best trailer for a brilliant film that will never be made," one person wrote.

"One day out and this gets 1.1 million views already!! The world is waiting for Bond. What the bloody he'll, let's get on with ut already!" said another.

"Henry has the swag and debonair for 007 period!" a third person commented.

A fourth added: "THIS NEEDS TO BE REAL! TWO OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE."

After Craig retired following 2021's No Time to Die—his fifth film in the Bond franchise—producer Michael G. Wilson told Deadline the producers were looking for actors in their 30s to take on the mantle.

"We've tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn't work," Wilson said. "Remember, Bond's already a veteran. He's had some experience. He's a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He's probably been in the SAS or something. He isn't some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That's why it works for a thirty-something."
