Astros Troll Phillies After No-Hitter Win in World Series Game Four

The Houston Astros have bounced back and leveled the World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies at 2-2 after securing only the second no-hitter in the history of the finals with a 5-0 win in Game 4.

The Astros had been under a lot of pressure after having five home runs hit against them in a 7-0 loss the night before, but they were back with a vengeance and have made sure the Phillies know about it.

Cristian Javier struck out nine batters in six innings before three relievers closed out a combined no-hitter to level the best-of-seven series.

Javier threw 97 pitches across six innings before Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly finished the combined no-hitter by tossing one frame apiece.

There has only been one previous occasion where the World Series has had a no-hitter, and that was in 1956 when Don Larsen threw a perfect game for the New York Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers in Game 5.

The jubilant Astros celebrated on social media by trolling their opponents with a series of spiky tweets, with one including Jalen Hurts, who is the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sharing a photo of Astros fan Jalen after the game, they posted: "How we Pheeling, Houston?"

It would seem that the feeling was good among their fans with many praising the Astros social media team for sticking it to the Phillies after the win.

One fan replied: "Again, whoever is running the @astros twitter account DESERVES. A. RAISE."

There was some caution though, with many fans warning that the job was not done yet and two more wins are required before the real celebrating can be done.

One fan summed up that mood by replying: "pheeling like the job ain't finished and we need 2 more wins."

Undeterred, the Astros doubled down on their trolling by answering their own tweet with another jibe about the no-hitter game.

They quote-tweeted with the caption: "No hits? That Hurts."

The Astros then turned their attention to anyone not supporting them with a final tweet indicating that it is them against the world.

Everyone loves an underdog and the Phillies seemed to have garnered the support of most non-Astros fans but the Astros had a message to them after the series-leveling win.

Alongside a photo of their history-making pitchers, the Astros wrote: "Houston vs. all y'all."

There was jubilation after the game and speaking to Julia Morales, the field reporter for the Houston Astros, relief pitcher Ryan Pressly said: "An unbelievable game. What a response from these guys from last night to today. This just shows the testament of this team. There's fight, we don't quit, everybody's fighting, not giving up. It is so much fun to go out there and watch him throw and watch the pitching staff do their thing.

"It is what we needed to do to respond back. Yesterday was definitely a slap in the face, it woke us up, so today we had the mind of a goldfish and come back and don't remember anything, taking it one out at a time and just go after it."

Pressly continued: "I couldn't do it without the help of my teammates. Javier went out there for six innings and the guys we had behind us and the preparation our catchers put in and the work, it just, I can't explain to you guys how important it is for the defense and the teammates that we have that we are able to go out and do that and what we need to do."

Game 5 will also be played at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Thursday, where the Phillies have an impressive winning record in the playoffs, at 6-1 after Wednesday night's loss.

For them to win the World Series though, they will have to get their noses ahead after Game 5 and then finish the job in Houston this weekend.

The Phillies had plundered five home runs off Lance McCullers Jr. in Game 3 and were hoping for more of the same but found Javier unhittable.

Only three men made it on base all night—all from walks.

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Astros loaded the bases which led to the Phillies replacing pitcher Aaron Nola.

Reliever Jose Alvarado hit Yordan Alvarez with his first pitch to walk in a run.

The runs continued when Alex Bregman's double drove led to two more, Kyle Tucker's sacrifice fly made it 4-0, before Yuli Gurriel drove in Bregman for 5-0.

Correction 11/21/22: This article was updated to correctly identify Jalen Hurts.
