How to Get the Ability Shield in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you'll always find a wide variety of different items that you can give your Pokemon to hold to turn the tides of battle.

Those include the Loaded Dice and Mirror Herb. Some of the items can bolster certain attacks, while others can ensure you receive more cash from Trainer battles. Others protect your Pokemon's moves, like the Ability Shield.

The Ability Shield is an item your Pokemon can hold that prevents opponents from removing certain abilities.

Moves like Worry Seed and Switcheroo can simply remove your Pokemon's powers, and if you find yourself without some of them, you won't be able to come out of all of your battles victorious. That's why it's imperative to find this held item and make sure you give it to your frontline Pokemon.

Of course, your Pokemon will still take damage. They'll be susceptible to attacks that force them back to the bench. You'll still be beholden to all the other potential problems that opponent Pokemon could force your Pokemon into.

But overall, these are items that can be invaluable when it comes to certain story paths, and you'll be glad you have one to fall back on.

With that said, how do you get the Ability Shield in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? You're in luck, as there's nothing ridiculous or involved with nabbing the item. All you need to do is buy it, but you have to know where to find it first.

We've got all the information you need to track down the Ability Shield, so read on for everything we know.

How to Get the Ability Shield in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

If you want to buy your own Ability Shield item, make your way to the western corner of Mesagoza City. Look for the Mesagoza Delibird Presents shop near the city's exit. You'll find the Ability Shild there to purchase, but it's pretty pricey at 20,000 coins.

You may need to take part in a few Trainer battles if you're running low on cash, but the Ability Shield is well worth buying.

When you purchase the Ability Shield, make sure you give it to a Pokemon you use often. It'll keep your Pokemon from receiving the full brunt of attacks, and will also block harmful status effects. You can equip one Shield per Pokemon.

If you want to have this same effect echoed across all of your Pokemon, you need to purchase multiple Ability Shields. It'll get pricey, of course, but it's well worth coming back and buying multiple to prep for certain battles.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
