'Sister Wives' Fans Question Future of the Show After Janelle and Kody News

Sister Wives fans have questioned the future of the show following the latest shock announcement from the Brown family.

TLC stars Janelle and Kody Brown, who share six children together, have confirmed they have officially "separated" after 30 years of marriage.

The news was announced at the end of the episode on Sunday, December 11, as part of a teaser clip for the upcoming tell-all specials, which will take a look back at the show's 17th season.

Janelle is the second wife to have left Kody and the rest of the families in their plural marriage in recent years as, in November 2021, Christine announced that he marriage with Kody was over.

Kody and Christine were previously spiritually married. Kody is legally married to Robyn Brown, spiritually married to Meri Brown and spiritually married, but separated, from Janelle.

The fact that both Christine and Janelle have now split from Kody has caused Sister Wives to question whether the long-running series will continue.

Some have even suggested that Christine and Janelle should team up for a spinoff following their new lives post-Kody.

Taking to Twitter after the news about Kody and Janelle was confirmed, viewers questioned whether the ladies, who are close friends, will be seen on screens together again.

One fan posted: "Honestly cannot stomach a show that is mostly Kody rambling b*******. Can we just give Janelle and Christine their own show now? #SisterWives."

As another tweeted: "I really don't think @TLC should renew #SisterWives. Kody is verbally abusive, vile towards his kids, AND apparently earns a living selling guns. The focus of the show should now be on Christine and Janelle since they're the only ones we're interested in."

"Hey @TLC, next season, let's dump sobbin' Robyn, doormat Meri, narcissist Kody, and the 'Sister Wives' name. Instead, let's have 'Ex Sister Wives' or 'Kody's Exes', and focus on Christine, Janelle, their kids, and their lives now. #SisterWives," added another.

While a fourth viewer wrote: "I'm sick of Kody's temper tantrums and drama. He's a manipulator and I'm glad Janelle and Christine left. Now @TLC should do new show with their lives after Polygamy. Sounds like a good idea to me. #sisterwives."

Christine has previously addressed the possibility of taking part in a spinoff with Janelle, telling Entertainment Tonight: "As far as a spinoff, dude, I'm totally open, no idea what it looks like, but absolutely, that'd be just fun as heck."

Newsweek has contacted representatives for TLC and Sister Wives for comment.

Janelle and Christine are still close friends and the pair often post pictures of themselves together on Instagram. Since leaving the family, Christine hasn't posted any pictures with Meri or Robyn.

Following her split from Kody, Christine left Arizona where the rest of the Brown families currently reside, and she now lives in Murray, Utah. Janelle appears to still be living in Arizona.

The Sister Wives tell-all episodes will air Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
