Landlord Has Unreal Response After Seeing Tenant Doesn't Have Any Furniture

Landlords are often given a bad reputation by disgruntled tenants, but one international student has showed how kind and generous her own landlord was when he realized there was no furniture.

Array Abzhali, 21, moved to a new apartment in Toronto, Canada, two months ago, but she still hadn't made the place feel like home. In November, he brought her a table, two chairs, and a bookshelf to give the space a homier feel. Not only did the landlord deliver the furniture to her, but he also stuck around to build it all for her as well.

Abzhali couldn't believe his generosity at the time, as she told Newsweek that "it was such a wholesome moment, I felt really grateful." While she knew it was only temporary accommodation during her studies, her landlord wanted to make sure she didn't go without. He said his own daughter is studying abroad and that Abzhali reminded him of her.

"I moved to this new apartment on the beginning of September, and he saw that I didn't get any furniture in the two months of living here. I personally didn't buy any furniture because I'm an international student and I'm constantly on the move, so furniture will make it challenging," Abzhali said.

The adorable moment between Abzhali and her landlord was shared on her TikTok account (@lxsrtx) on November 20. It has already been viewed more than 1.8 million times and received 262,000 likes. In the caption alongside the heartwarming clip, Abzhali wrote that the landlord said he doesn't mind helping as he hopes that people would do the same for his daughter, too.

Simple gestures like this one might not take up a lot of time or cost that much money, but they can certainly brighten a person's day or even week. A random act of kindness can mean a lot to a person, and a recent YouGov survey found that 69 percent of people had been on the receiving end of one more than once. While most respondents had multiple examples of people being kind to them, just 8 percent said they had never experienced such generosity.

"He is kind, energetic and funny. Always asks me how I am doing and how college is going," Abzhali said of her landlord. "I thought it was really kind of him, and it was as though he was helping his daughter out by helping me.

"Most of the reactions online were kind and supportive, as this video touched many people's hearts. I feel like 98 percent of the response was positive, but some people were making funny jokes about their own landlord being bad," Abzhali added.

Since the TikTok video went viral, it has already gained more than 1,750 comments in a matter of days. The kindness of Abzhali's landlord left many TikTok users holding back the tears, and many even shared their own renting experiences.

One comment reads: "Not me crying over an awesome landlord/dad who misses his baby."

Another person posted: "Forget landlord, this is the type of man, father, and person that I want to be."

However, not everyone is so lucky, as one person commented: "my landlord won't even fix the light switch."
