Comments made by Fox News host Laura Ingraham over this year's White House holiday video are facing backlash from people across social media.
Amid the holiday season, each year the first lady is assigned the task of decorating the White House for the festive season while also releasing an accompanying video. On Wednesday, first lady Jill Biden unveiled her Christmas decorations in a video uploaded to X, formerly Twitter, with the theme this year being "Magic, Wonder and Joy." In the clip, dancers can be seen tap dancing down a candy-themed hallway before leading to the main Christmas tree in the Blue Room. The dancers continue to perform in front of the tree before making their way through other rooms of the White House, showing how they have been decorated for the holidays.
On Friday's edition of Fox News' The Ingraham Angle, Ingraham criticized the video by calling it "woke nonsense," while adding that the White House "wanted to offend you."
"If you felt embarrassed and angry to see this woke nonsense at the White House during a time Christians have considered holy for 2,000 years or so, well, that's the point. They wanted to offend you. They did it on purpose because they think their supporters like that sort of thing and they do," Ingraham said.
Newsweek has reached out to the White House and Fox News via email for comment.
However, Ingraham's remarks have since sparked backlash as many have taken to X to call attention to her comments while noting that she is "spreading hate."
X user, Piyush Mittal, wrote, "Hey Laura Ingraham - You're the one who's offended. You're the one spreading hate. Get a life. Go out. Meet your neighbors. Make some new friends. 'Tis the season to be jolly. Get that hate out of your heart."
Political commentator Cheri Jacobus called attention to the video's main dancer, writing that Ingraham's comments ruined the dancer's moment.
"A talented young girl who just had the biggest moment of her life, dancing the lead in a tapdance rendition of the 'Nutcracker' AT THE WHITE HOUSE, just had it crash and burn by some bitter, racist, dried up old witch named Laura Ingraham," Jacobus wrote.
X user Geoff also called attention to the dancers and wrote, "Laura Ingraham melts down over White House Christmas video calling it woke nonsense. For God's sake it's a dance troupe doing an adaptation of the Nutcracker. What she really means is she's horrified that it features Black tap dancers."
In his X post, former GOP Representative Adam Kinzinger of Illinois called out Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters and wrote, "Of all the things to be outraged about. This? I didn't like the video, but I just didn't like it. I didn't feel threatened. MAGA has been so coddled that they are physically unable to cope with anything even remotely uncomfortable. So weak, just like their leader."
Meanwhile, others slammed the White House video, calling it "horrendous."
"This should've come with a sensitivity label. This is horrendous,' Libs of TikTok wrote on X.
X user, Proud Army brat, commented, "Whoa! Now THAT is REALLY NASTY & GROSS!"
Others also compared it to former first lady Melania Trump's 2020 Christmas video, which only included shots of herself and a variety of Christmas decorations.
One X user, Tracy Ann, posted a picture of former President Donald Trump and Melania under Jill Biden's post on X and wrote," This is class."
