Meghan Markle, Prince William Go Head-to-Head in Week of Royal U.S. Visits

Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit Boston for the Earthshot Prize during what will also be a crunch period for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

William and Kate will step foot on American soil for the first time since they became Prince and Princess of Wales, titles they took on after Queen Elizabeth II's death.

The couple will attend the Earthshot Prize ceremony on December 2 and a series of events in the days before, after touching down in Boston on Wednesday, November 30.

On Tuesday, Meghan will give a speech on the power of women during a visit to Indianapolis, while on December 6 she will find out whether her Archetypes podcast will win a People's Choice Award.

On the same day, Harry and Meghan will also be named as winners of the Ripple of Hope award by Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.

Meghan Markle's Power of Women Speech

Meghan will visit Indianapolis on Tuesday, November 29, to give a private talk to guests at Power of Women, an event hosted by the Women's Fund of Central Indiana.

Tickets are $5,000 dollars for a table, which, the website notes, is tax deductible to the tune of $2,500 and comes with $2,500 of food and drink.

Guests have been banned from taking photos or video though it is not impossible that fans may catch a glimpse of Meghan's speech as there is video online of past events, including Michelle Obama's from 2018.

Either way, Meghan's supporters will be hoping for new pictures of the duchess as she arrives and leaves the venue.

The fund's event listing reads: "The Duchess is a mother, feminist and champion of human rights. She is a lifelong advocate for women and girls, a constant thread she weaves through humanitarian and business ventures."

Prince William and Kate Middleton's Tour of Boston

William and Kate will spend three days in Boston, starting with a visit to meet Michelle Wu, the city's mayor.

A Kensington Palace press release states: "During their trip, which will take place between Wednesday 30th November and Friday 2nd December, Their Royal Highnesses will get to know the City of Boston, including learning about how it is taking ambitious action to combat the effects of climate change, ahead of The Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony on the Friday evening.

"Their visit will see them attend a special event with the Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, as well as a visit by The Prince to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum with Ambassador Caroline Kennedy."

There will also be a solo engagement for Kate who will visit the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University.

The princess works in the field through The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which seeks to elevate the status of the early childhood.

However, the main event will be The Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, at MGM Music Hall, in Boston, on December 2.

Each year, the award gives out grants of £1 million (around $1.2 million) to each of five winners to fund projects aimed at saving the environment.

In 2021, the event had a green carpet instead of a red one, in keeping with the climate conscious theme, and guests were invited to be eco-conscious, leading to a spate of re-worn or upcycled gowns.

Meghan and Harry Given RFK Ripple of Hope Award

The duke and duchess will be on the red carpet days after Earthshot, having been given a Ripple of Hope award by Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.

Harry and Meghan will travel in person to New York City to be honored with the laureate, but the evening begins with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. dinner on December 6.

Meghan Markle's 'Archetypes' Podcast Nominated for Award

There could be more big news for the duchess the same night, however, as her Spotify podcast has been nominated for a People's Choice Award, closer to home in Santa Monica.

Archetypes is in the running to be named "Pop Podcast of 2022" at the Barker Hangar on December 6 and the star-studded show will be broadcast live on E! and NBC.

While the event is less than 90 miles down the road for Harry and Meghan, it is not guaranteed they will win.

Among the competition is the Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, a show which Prince Harry was a guest on in May 2021.
