Mom's Unexpected Reaction to Finding Out Baby's Gender Caught on Camera

When looking at this photo of a happy couple holding a baby grow surrounded by love decorations, you'd think they were both over the moon with their baby's gender.

However, the reality of the discovery was heartbreaking for Jordan, a mom-of-two boys, whose reaction has gone viral on TikTok.

Racking up 2.9 million views, the footage shared to @jordyyy302 showcases the moment Jordan and her partner found out their baby's gender by biting into a cupcake. When bitten into, it showed blue dots embedded in the sponge, symbolizing a boy.

In the caption, she wrote: "Hey i just wanted one girl. Here's to being surrounded by 4 boys for the rest of my existence. PS I am so happy to have my boys it just threw me off a little #boymomforever."

While Jordan dreams of having a daughter, a 2018 Gallup poll shows a general preference in the U.S. for sons, with 36 percent of 1,520 adults favoring boys over the 28 percent who prefer girls. Gallup has asked Americans the same question 11 times since 1941 and every time, the results suggest men are more likely to want boys, whereas women are split in their preference.

In this case, Jordan isn't alone as thousands of TikTok users have commented on the clip that has over 123,000 likes to support her and share their stories.

One comment with 12,600 likes said: "Gender disappointment is real don't let anyone make you feel bad! I did the same thing but I couldn't imagine my life without my boys."

"I cried for 3 hours when I found out I was having a girl !!!! lol" said another.

A third commenter said: "No because I was convinced I would be a boy mom because that's all I imagined and I have three girls."

"I cried too after my 3rd boy. I [cancelled] the whole baby announcement out of anger," said a fourth user.

Jordan also wrote: "I am MORE than excited for my baby boy!"

While gender reveals can be an exciting time for all of the family, they certainly don't go to plan. Especially for parents who have their heart set on a gender.

Sometimes, it can be hard to mask the initial feeling of sadness but it isn't long until the parents can't imagine their life without their bundle of joy. Even if it's not how they imagined it to be.

One woman previously admitted feeling "ashamed" by her reaction at her gender reveal.
