Passenger's Suite on NY Flight Amazes Internet: 'Fancier [Than] My House'

The internet was left in awe after a woman shared a video showing the luxury suite her mom was able to get on an intercontinental flight, paying only $5.60.

The post shared on TikTok on Saturday, under the username Travelhackingmom, shows the woman's mom living her best life inside a luxury suite on a Singapore Airlines flight from New York JFK to Frankfurt, Germany.

The suite includes an adjustable leather armchair, what looks like a comfortable bed with pristine sheets, a large TV, and a whole lot of space and privacy, among other things.

She explained her mom was able to purchase the luxury suite almost for free, paying only $5.60 on top of the 143,000 credit card points that she's redeeming in the deal.

Meanwhile, according to the Bureau of Transport Statistics, adjusted for inflation, during the first quarter of 2022 fares on the average U.S. domestic flight increased by 16.9 percent from the year earlier figure of $281.

In the first quarter of 2022, passenger demand increased, with U.S. airlines reporting 66.4 million originating passengers, up 9.1 percent from 60.8 million passengers in the first quarter of 2020.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Consumer Price Index, shows that airfare prices recently hit their largest one-month jump in history, climbing 18.6 percent from March to April 2022, and it looks like average prices won't go down anytime soon.

The post has attracted a lot of attention from platform users, who think the luxury suite is more comfortable than their house, receiving over 4.3 million views and 350,600 likes.

One user, bethy red, commented: "Yoo these airplanes getting fancier [than] my house." And Albert DeLeon joked: "So THAT'S why I have no legroom in coach."

Another user, Itsmyronie, said: "I like how she still had to pay 5 dollars." And SirStrange_ added: "I did not know they even made things like this for planes."

Kimberly Kupp commented: "See I think this just needs to be the standard." And Emily Krause joked: "My whole family of 6 could live comfortably in that suite. Looks awesome!"

Shellylicious_86 wrote: "That's not a seat that's an [apartment]." And tackla77 added: "That would rent for $8K a month in Manhattan!" Pudgy Penguin said: "That's not a seat- it's a room."
