How to Get the Master Ball in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The Master Ball is an icon among the members of the Pokemon community, and for good reason. Not only does the Master Ball's design itself look cool, but this item allows players to catch a Pokemon on the first try without failing, making it extremely useful for catching Legendary Pokemon.

But how exactly do you get your hands on the Master Ball and is there anything special you need to do if you want to use it? This guide will teach you everything you need to know to unlock the Master Ball so you can make catching a Pokemon of your choice much easier.

How to Get the Master Ball

As noted, the Master Ball is one of the most sought-after items in all of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and with some Pokemon having extremely low catch rates, it can really make the difference between having to spend 30 minutes trying to catch a Pokemon or just being able to grab it in one go.

But getting the Master Ball won't be easy, as players need to complete the entire game's story before they can get their hands on it. That's right, if you want to unlock the Master Ball, you're going to need to complete the Victory Road storyline, the Path of Legends storyline, as well as the Operation Starfall storyline.

Further, you'll need to then complete the rest of the campaign, which sees you making your way into the Great Crater of Paldea, Area Zero, which is home to new Paradox Pokemon you can catch, too. After doing all of this, head back to the school and talk to Director Clavell. He'll offer up a Master Ball for your troubles, allowing you to get your hands on this iconic Poke Ball.

Can You Get More Master Balls?

As noted above, the Master Ball is so useful because it can catch any Pokemon in one-try, even those with a low catch rate like Roaring Moon. However, you can't just head to the local Poke Center and pick up more of these iconic Poke Balls.

That's right, there is only one Master Ball in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This is actually the case in most Pokemon games, which is why the Master Ball has such an iconic look and meaning within the community. So, before you go off throwing it at the first Pokemon you see, make sure you hold onto it for a Pokemon that really matters, like one of the game's various Legendary Pokemon.

Luckily, if you don't mind glitches, you can duplicate the Master Ball to add more to your inventory.
