How to Get the Mirror Herb in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The Mirror Herb is a brand-new Held Item in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that allows users to mirror an opponent's star increase one time. It's very useful, especially during battles. However, the Mirror Herb also has a secondary use, one that makes it much more useful for Pokemon trainers looking to min/max their Pokemon party: it can mirror Egg Moves, allowing you to teach a Pokemon a move it normally wouldn't have access to.

Before we really dive into how to get the Mirror Herb, let's talk about Egg Moves for a moment. Egg Moves are special moves that Pokemon can learn from one of their parents. They can only be learned by breeding Pokemon with each other, and they are often limited to which Pokemon they can be taught to.

Because Egg Moves require the Pokemon to be able to learn that particular move, using the Mirror Herb to bypass the normal breeding process won't just work with any old Pokemon. You'll still need to ensure that the Pokemon can learn that move as an Egg Move before using the Mirror Herb to teach it.

Now that you have a little more background on Egg Moves, though, let's talk about getting your hands on the Mirror Herb itself.

How to Get the Mirror Herb

The Mirror Herb is just one of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's many Held Items, meaning that Pokemon will hold these items and then can utilize them in battle.

When you give a Pokemon the Mirror Herb, it basically steals the stats of the opponent Pokemon one time, allowing you to rip off whatever build your opponent may be running at the time. However, it's secondary use makes it much more useful and worth the price.

To get a Mirror Herb, make your way to Cascarrafa, one of the main cities in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. If you've played through the Victory Road storyline, then you've probably already visited. If not, hop on your Pokemon and head to the city.

Once there, visit the Delibird Presents store and then look for the Mirror Herb within the listing of items available to purchase. You'll need 30,000 Poke Dollars to purchase the item itself. Once you have it, though, it will be extremely useful. If you want to save yourself some money, you can try cloning this item, as you'll have to buy a new one each time you want to use it. You can also do this for other useful items, like the Ability Patch, which is much harder to get your hands on.

Now that you have the Mirror Herb, you can use the item by giving it to your Pokemon and then catching another Pokemon that has the Egg Move you want to teach the Pokemon that is holding the Mirror Herb.

Next, clear out the rest of your party so that you only have those two Pokemon in it. Make sure the Pokemon with Mirror Herb has at least one open move spot, forget the move in that spot if you need to, and then open up the Picnic Table. Give the two Pokemon a little time to get to know each other (or don't, the process actually works instantly), and then exit the Picnic.

Congratulations! Your Pokemon should now know the Egg Move that you wanted it to learn and you didn't even have to bother breeding the Pokemon and waiting on the egg to hatch. Now you can get back out there and use that Pokemon to take on high-tier events, like the upcoming Unrivaled Charizard Tera Raid Battle Event this month.
