Where to Catch Roaring Moon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Once players reach the end of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, they'll be able to catch special Pokemon called Paradox Pokemon. These Pokemon can be found inside of Area Zero, which is also known as the Great Crater of Paldea. One of the most iconic of these Pokemon, though, is Roaring Moon, a dragon-like Pokemon that is encountered when players are exploring Area Zero during the final part of the game's campaign story.

Unlike many of the Pokemon you'll encounter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, catching Roaring Moon is not easy. Not only will you need powerful Pokemon to whittle down its health, but its catch chance and spawn rate are also extremely low, making it very difficult to catch even if you manage to find one.

How to Catch Roaring Moon

First, before you can head off to Area Zero and start catching your own Roaring Moon, it's time to talk about a very important part of these two games.

First, Roaring Moon is a version-exclusive Pokemon, meaning that it can only be caught within Pokemon Scarlet. Pokemon Violet players will either need to join a friend using the multiplayer function, or trade for a Roaring Moon with one of their friends who is playing through Scarlet.

Because Roaring Moon is exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet, this Ancient Pokemon is one that players will definitely want to get as soon as they can venture into Area Zero. That's because it is especially powerful and will be very useful for higher-tier Tera Raids.

To catch Roaring Moon, players will need to make their way into Area Zero and then down through the path that you used to reach the Research Stations.

One of the easiest ways to go here is to head to the Area Zero part of the map and then fly into the Research Lab No. 2 fast travel zone. Here, you can leave the lab, then make your way down the path toward Research Lab 3 until you pass the waterfall. From here, look for a pile of rocks on the left, then search for a small gap that leads into a cave.

You'll find Roaring Moon inside the cave. Again, the spawn rates here are low, so you might not see this Pokemon immediately. You can also make use of the sandwich recipes to increase the spawn chances, though.
