Quavo Breaks Silence After Takeoff Death: 'I'll Never Leave You'

For the first time since rapper Takeoff's death, Quavo publicly addressed his nephew on Saturday with a touching tribute posted to Instagram.

The 28-year-old member of rap trio Migos was fatally shot by a stray bullet outside a bowling alley called 801 Billiards & Bowling in Houston at approximately 2:30 a.m. on November 1, according to TMZ. Houston police say he was attending a private party of about 40 people. In addition, Quavo was with Takeoff playing dice at the time of the fatal incident, TMZ reported.

In Quavo's Instagram post, he depicted growing up with Takeoff in Atlanta and always wanting to be a WWE wrestler before finding rap. Quavo added that they had every WWE action figure and that Takeoff could do the best wrestler impression.

"Since we were kids you been by my side lookin' up at me, them eyes waiting on me to make the next move," he wrote. "You never competed with me, we were always on the same team."

Toward the end of his post, he wrote: "I'll never leave you I guess God just ain't need my help. So you can ask Him for me what I gotta do to be with you again!!!"

Takeoff's funeral was on Friday in Atlanta at State Farm Arena, with celebrities such as Cardi B, Offset, Justin Bieber, and Drake in attendance. Video of Drake's speech leaked on Twitter, where he can be heard saying a fond anecdote about Takeoff and his sunglasses.

"Whenever he would take his shades off he had this thing about him that I loved no matter what was going on around us he was like always kind of squinting but like his eyes were wide open," Drake said.

Cardi B also broke her silence on Takeoff's death on Saturday, posting to Instagram a picture slide and a long caption to honor her friend.

"Takeoff your untimely passing has brought a great deal of pain and sorrow to so many lives," she wrote. "This has truly been a nightmare and the pain is incomparable. The emptiness your brothers are feeling is unbearable and I pray that you give Offset, Quavo, and your friends and family the strength to keep going as they are trying to cope with this loss."

Quavo ended the tribute to his nephew saying he was unsure of what to call him. Brother wasn't right because Takeoff was his sister's child. Nephew "wasn't it" because he said they knew their relationship was closer than that.

'Now I finally get it...you are OUR angel. Watching me and watching us this whole time in living form making sure EVERYONE FELT UR LOVE AND HUGS while u here and u made our dreams come true."

No arrest has been made in the shooting, but police are calling on the public to share whatever information they may have.
