Tears as German Shepherd Loses Eye Saving Family From Coyote: 'Goodest Boy'

Dogs would do anything for their owners, and when they are in danger, they would protect them at any cost, even if it means risking their own life for them.

A dog named Sig Sauer, described by his owner as "the goodest boy," has melted hearts all over the internet after a video went viral on social media of him recovering from a coyote attack, where he saved his family and their other dog.

In the footage, shared on TikTok on Thursday by the dog's owner, under the username doctor_professor_steve, the German shepherd can be seen at a vet's surgery, for a check on the progress of his recovery. His body is full of wounds and scratches from the coyote, and he's even lost an eye to the wild animal.

In the caption, the owner wrote that Sig Sauer got his wounds while fighting the coyote, who was attacking his owner and a husky named Isla.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), German shepherds are known for being fearless and self-confident. The breed is suited to being either watchdogs or guardians. The dogs can be aloof with strangers, yet they are not hostile, and this protective instinct is reassuring to German shepherd owners.

The breed was developed as working dogs, and their body and gait are suited to hard work. This means that German shepherds can excel at almost anything, from dog sports such as rally, agility, and scent and therapy work, to service-dog work. All that holds your dog back is the time and energy you can commit to training.

As a breed, German shepherds are also very affectionate with family, and they can be particularly fond of young children, but this means that the dogs need to spend lots of time with you, rather than being alone all day long.

The video quickly went viral, attracting more than 2.4 million views and receiving over 301,900 likes in less than a week.

Lover of animals commented: "my gs saved my wife from a coyote attack a while back, luckily she walked away unscathed."

One TikToker, paintrain7476, wrote: "As a grown man, this choked me up. Not gonna lie. He laid it all on the line and [was] happy to do so. He'd do it again and again. They're the BEST."

Metal Mom m/ posted: "wow and it looks like he would have defended to the death, but so happy to see [it] didn't go that far. he's a hero!!" while IemaaLotuss added: "Definitely a Hero!"
