This Could Be Why Britney Spears Deleted Her Instagram Account

On March 16, fans noticed that Britney Spears' Instagram account has been taken down, leaving millions of followers confused.

"Where did #BritneySpears' Instagram go again?!," one fan asked on Twitter.

According to TMZ, Instagram said they did not delete Spears' account for any violations. The pop singer had over 40 million followers on the social media platform with over 2,000 pictures. Her other social media pages including Twitter and Facebook are still visible, though her activity on each has dwindled over recent weeks.

On Instagram, Spears has posted a variety of photos for her fans to see, including dance videos, selfies, and relaxing candid shots on the beach. Her decision to leave the social media platform was sudden. She may have disabled her own Instagram account to put a pause on her social media usage for a while.

One fan on Twitter pointed out, "She probably needs a break from social media. Y'all gotta remember, Britney is trying to heal from over a decade of trauma. Sometimes she needs a break from it all, including Instagram & all social media. I'm sure she will be back. She's done this before."

In September 2021, the "Baby One More Time" singer deleted her Instagram page to celebrate her relationship with Sam Asghari.

"Don't worry folks ... just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement !!!! I'll be back soon," she tweeted to her 55 million Twitter followers. She received over 178,00 likes on that post alone.

On November 12th, 2021, after a long fight for her freedom, Britney Spears was finally free from her 14-year conservatorship from father, James Spears. She took to social media to share a video of her fans celebrating the victory.

"Good God I love my fans so much it's crazy !!! I think I'm gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever ... praise the Lord ... can I get an Amen ???? #FreedBritney," she wrote.

Spears has also previously stated that she will need time to heal from what she has been thorough saying, "I'm grateful for that but also I still need lots of healing !!!! Not therapy ... but the kind of healing that comes from within !!!! I have hope and the intention to do my best .... period !!!!"

Since her release, the mogul has spoken out against her family, along with a public feud with sister, Jamie Lynn. More recently, Spears accused her sister of lying in a new book, Things I Should Have Said.

Newsweek has reached out to Spears' publicist for comment but didn't her back in time for publication.
