The Original Nathan Drake Makes a Cameo in the 'Uncharted' Film—Here's Where To Spot Him

Naughty Dog's Uncharted games are iconic in their own right, so it only seems fitting that their film adaptation does more than just recreate the stories fans know and love.

The action flick stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, aka Nate, and Mark Wahlberg as his would-be mentor Victor "Sully" Sullivan, and it shows the pair as they go on their first treasure-hunting quest together to find Magellan's lost gold.

While the film draws inspiration from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, it also pays homage to its source material in a big way: by having Nolan North make a surprise cameo in the film.

North is the original voice actor for Nathan Drake, and he has portrayed the character since the release of the first game, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, in 2007.

Where to Spot Nolan North in the Uncharted Film

In the Uncharted film, Holland's Nate is thrown out of a Santiago Moncada's (Antonio Banderas) cargo plane, which is headed to the Philippines—where Magellan's lost gold is thought to be hidden.

Nate had been hiding in the boot of Moncada's car in the cargo plane alongside Sully, and they got out with the intention of stealing the map leading to the treasure and parachuting out of the plane once its bay doors were opened for an airdrop.

Unfortunately things don't go quite as they planned because Nate decides to face off against Braddock (Tati Gabrielle) and question her over her involvement in his brother Sam's apparent death.

Nate releases the supply crates in the plane but gets caught in the netting of one of them, and is thrown off whilst still attached to the box.

He manages to fend off goons sent to kill him and gets back into the plane, only for Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali) to hit him with Moncada's car which she had been using to get off the plane herself.

Fans of the game will recognize that the scene is a direct nod to a similar incident in Uncharted 3, where Nate has to fight off agents in a plane and falls out of it while it flies over Yemen.

Chloe and Nate manage to survive the ordeal by using a parachute attached to one of the supply crates, and after floating in the ocean for a short while they arrive at a luxury resort.

The pair walk out of the ocean James Bond-style and make their way up the beach, where they are stopped by a man on a sun lounger. This man is none other than Nolan North.

North asks Nate and Chloe what happened to them, and Nate comments that he fell out of a cargo plane and was hit by a car on the way down.

The voice actor comments that something similar happened to him once, which is a nod to what happened to Nate in Uncharted 3, and he wishes Holland's iteration of the character "good luck."

This final remark from North feels like it was intended as a way to pass the torch from the voice actor to Holland, giving the Spider-Man star his blessing to do what he likes with the character.

Uncharted will be released in theaters across the U.S. on Friday, February 18, and it is out in cinemas in the U.K. now.
