Stray Cat With Love Heart Marking on Fur Sends Internet Wild: 'Adorable'

The internet is smitten with the "wholesome" video of a stray cat showing off its marking shaped like a love heart.

Over one million people spent 35 seconds waiting for the grand reveal of the cat's side, many of whom said "it was worth the wait."

The cat was spotted in Greece by Tik Toker who goes by the name @crispinion, from Liverpool, UK.

The video has been a hit online and it has racked up more than 194,000 likes since being posted on October 3.

The original poster is thrilled to see the cat with unique markings, and it is clear the feline has boosted his serotonin levels whilst he is on holiday.

However, cats roaming the streets without a home are a real problem in not only Greece but all over the world. It is estimated that between 60 to 100 million feral cats live in the U.S.

Greece has a high population of stray cats, and the country also has its very own breed. Native to the Greek islands known as the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea, these are natural cats, meaning they developed without humans getting involved in their breeding.

As a breed, Aegean Cats are rare, although there are numerous on their home island.

The Greek Cat Welfare Society, a U.K.-based charity, has shared some do's and don'ts for tourists on the Greek Island.

  • Don't pick up or move kittens; it is very normal for a cat's mom to leave them for up to six hours
  • Do take an ill or injured cat to a vet or local shelter
  • Don't give cats or kittens milk as this could cause diarrhoea
  • Do be careful where you feed the stray animals as they can be unwelcomed at local restaurants
  • Don't be frightened that you might catch rabies. There is no record of rabies in cats in Greece since the 1970s.

Hundreds of Tik Tokers have commented on the video and most are complimenting the "cute" cat.

One user said: "He's a little love bug." Another wrote: "Thanks for the serotonin."

"SO WHOLESOME" said another.

Some users have commented to say they have a pet dog or cat with a love heart marking too!

Newsweek previously shared a story about a cat who was compared to the 'Phantom of the Opera' due to his unusual markings, as well as another article was shared about a feline who was compared to the late, great Freddy Mercury.
