Worker's 'Accumulation of Cheese' Office Prank Has Internet in Stitches

The internet has been left in stitches at a hilariously cheesy video that shows an employee carrying out a bizarre prank at work.

Anthony Begemann, 25, who lives in Rochester, New York, has spent one month filling his fridge with blocks of cheese, until there were about 15 packs in there.

Trading Economics states cheese has increased by $0.33 per pound or 18.94 percent since the beginning of 2022, according to trading on a contract for difference (CFD).

Statista revealed the average consumer in the United States ate about 40.2 pounds of cheese in 2020. Over the past 10 years, U.S. per capita consumption of cheese has increased by more than five pounds.

The market and consumer data website also found while "the retail price of a pound of cheese has fluctuated over the past few decades, the dairy product has generally become more expensive. While the price per pound was less than four U.S. dollars in 1999, the average cost in 2019 was closer to five and a half U.S. dollars."

The TikTok video has racked up 3.5 million likes and more than 24.8 million views since it was posted on November 18.

While the stunt might annoy his coworkers at the energy company, TikTokers can't get enough of the "expensive" prank.

The account manager didn't mention how much he spent on cheese, but other users have been questioning how he can afford to purchase the dairy product daily during the current cost of living crisis.

Some users have suggested he is "rich," while others have written that they would take a block home with them daily.

One user's comment received more than 60,000 likes: "not going to lie, if I saw that much cheese I'd cop one."

Another TikToker wrote: "That's like $192 worth of cheese. Dedicated to this bit!"

"You got that kind of cheese money? damn," posted another.

Anthony has added text to the video explaining "no one has said anything about the large accumulation of cheese."

The top comment has received more than 23,000 likes, and simply read: "MORE CHEESE."

There has since been an update from Anthony, showing a cheese-free fridge. A colleague had seen his viral video and decided to take all of the dairy product.

The coworker left a note in the fridge that said: "I saw your video - the cheese is mine now."

More than 5.3 million people have watched the update and almost 10,000 people have commented.

One comment has been liked more than 11,000 times and read: "This is getting interesting."

Another TikToker wrote: "This is either the start of a war or a beautiful love story."
