Here's when you can start playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One Rockstar

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases in just a few short hours, so now's the time to get yourselves ready to experience the sprawling western from Rockstar Games. If you want to play as early as possible, you're going to want to buy a digital copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 or PS4 or Xbox One and preload it.

Preloading is now available on both consoles, which allows players to download and install Red Dead Redemption 2 ahead of release. This is crucial, seeing as how the game is massive, coming in at around 100GB. The thing with preloading is you can't actually play the game yet, but will be able to as soon as it unlocks.

PS4 gamers have it pretty straightforward. On the Red Dead Redemption 2 page on the PlayStation Store, it explicitly mentions the game will be available to play starting at 12 a.m. EDT on Friday Oct. 26. This means those on the West Coast can start playing at 9 p.m. PDT on Oct. 25. Those lucky so-and-so's.

For those on Xbox One, the situation isn't quite as clear. We do know those on the East Coast will have to wait until 12 a.m. on Oct. 26 to start playing, but we aren't certain on the Pacific time zone. It's possible Red Dead Redemption 2 will unlock at 9 p.m. PDT, but it might also force those on the west coast to wait until midnight as well. If you live on the West Coast, try checking in with your Xbox One at 9 p.m. PDT to see if you can play. If not, you'll have to wait three more hours.
