How to Evolve Gimmighoul Into Gholdengo

Gholdengo is the newest Pokemon to join Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It's also the 1,000th Pokemon in the Pokedex, which makes it quite special. It's hard to believe there have been so many additions to the original 150 over the years, but now we've reached an impressive series milestone.

Though Gholdengo's existence is special, you don't have to participate in any sort of contest or giveaway to get the Pokemon. But it can be difficult to figure out how to procure one of your own.

If you want to add a Gholdengo to your team, you're going to have to first have a Gimmighoul. When you've procured one of those, you'll need to do a bit of work to evolve it into its final form: Gholdengo.

How to Evolve Gimmighoul Into Gholdengo

If you want to work your way to Gholdengo, you'll first need a Gimmighoul. There are two different types: Chest Form and Roaming Form. The Roaming Form is unavailable in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and must instead be caught in Pokemon Go. You can, however, catch the Chest Form. It looks like a treasure chest with a small creature inside.

Once you have a Chest Form Gimmighoul, it's your mission to start collecting Gimmighoul Coins. Your Gimmighoul does not evolve like most other Pokemon.

Instead, you have to collect special items to see your Gholdengo be born. You need 999 Gimmighoul Coins to get this evolution going.

The Pokemon Gholdengo may only be obtained by collecting 999 Gimmighoul Coins and then leveling up Gimmighoul. Gholdengo is a Pokemon comprised of Gimmighoul Coins. Nintendo

You'll need to look all over Paldea for the Gimmighoul Coins necessary to evolve your Pokemon. Some will be hidden around rocks, you'll get others by defeating other Gimmighoul, and you'll find others you can pick up in remote locations.

These coins will not return once you've picked them up, so you'll get one real chance to evolve your Gimmighoul into Ghodengo.

Once you've collected 999 Gimmighoul Coins, just level up your Gimmighoul in your party as usual. Once the coins are in your possession and you end your next battle where the Pokemon levels up, you'll watch Gimmighoul evolve into Ghodengo.

Congratulations! You'll now be able to welcome the gold coin monster into your ranks.

With both of these Pokemon at your disposal, you're one step closer to having the entirety of your Pokedex completed. There are still many more to go, of course, so keep an eye out for other rarities and see how far you can go.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
