How to Get the Covert Cloak in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The Covert Cloak in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a special item that Pokemon can hold during battle. Like the Mirror Herb, it relies on what Pokemon opponents in battle actually do, the abilities they use and how they behave to determine its usefulness. It will negate the status effects of certain attacks, such as an opponent unleashing a move with a "frozen" status. As such, your Pokemon would not be afflicted.

Some moves aren't affected by the Covert Cloak, however. So that means it isn't a cure-all or a way to make your Pokemon invincible so they won't be affected by negative statuses. Still, it's an important item that acts as a major boon for users, and one that you should absolutely seek out for your run through Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

But where do you get the Covert Cloak in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? We've got everything you need to know about finding one to make your personal Pokemon journey a fruitful (and far less frustrating) one.

How to Get the Covert Cloak in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

There are a couple of different ways to get a Covert Cloak. The first is the simplest method, but it will require that you have a decent amount of cash in your stores with which you don't mind parting. You'll want to first head to Lavencia, then seek out the Delibird Presents shop. You'll find a Covert Cloak in the shop here on sale for 20,000 in cash. If that isn't a hurdle for you, go ahead and purchase it, and that's all you need to do!

But if you want to spend zero coins on a Covert Cloak, whether out of necessity or the need to save, there's another method you can use. You'll want to head to Montenevera to track down the free Covert Cloak found in an item ball. Be forewarned, however, that you'll want to be well-stocked with supplies and powerful Pokemon on your way there, as the trek to Montenevera is paved with strong wild Pokemon.

Once you reach town, find the Pokemon Center. Then go behind the houses there and head left, where you'll find a tree and an item ball. Open it to find a Covert Cloak. That's it! You can then spend your hard-earned cash on something else.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
