Houndstone is a Ghost-type Pokemon that players can catch in both Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
Not only can this Pokemon be caught outright, but it can also be evolved from Greavard, by leveling Greavard up to Level 30 and then evolving it at night.
Houndstone is the 312th Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex, and it can be found within a few different areas in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Unlike other Pokemon, like Bagon and Larvitar, which are version-exclusive, Houndstone can be found in both Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
Where to Catch Houndstone in 'Pokemon Scarlet and Violet'
While you can find this Pokemon in multiple places, one of the easiest to locate it is within the ruins found in South Province Area Six.
This area is found to the southwest of the central city. This area is also home to one of the many Pokemon Gyms that players will visit during the Victory Road storyline, so you'll find yourself over here at some point.
If you've already approached this area and defeated the gym, then you can use the fast travel system within the game to get back over there quickly. From there, it's just a matter of heading out of the town and exploring the ruins around the area.
Unfortunately, Houndstone can be rare to find, though most players have had very little issue adding this Ghost-type Pokemon to their Pokedex.
How to Evolve Houndstone
Houndstone is actually the final evolution for another Pokemon known as Greavard. To evolve Greavard into Houndstone you'll just need to reach Level 30 and then evolve the Pokemon at night, as noted above.
There isn't any other kind of specifics needed to achieve this evolution of the Pokemon's line, so you won't have to gather any special evolutionary items.
Other areas you can find Houndstone include the ruins in South Province Area One, South Province Area Two, South Province Area Four, as well as the mountainous areas around South Province Area Two, East Province Area One, Glaseado Mountain, and North Province Area One.
Like other Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, catching a Houndstone is just about keeping your eye open and looking for the Pokemon during its correct times.
Luckily, you don't need to be out at a specific time of the day to catch Houndstone, so you should be able to find it in the areas noted above during the morning, afternoon, evening, and at night. This makes it much easier to roam around and hunt for this Pokemon at any point during your playthrough.
