Grammys Audience Appears 'Bored' After Taylor Swift Album Announcement

Some music fans think the audience at Sunday's Grammy Awards looked bored despite Taylor Swift announcing that her new album would be released in April.

Swift dropped the bombshell when accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, her 13th Grammy win.

"I know that the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion from the fans," Swift said. "So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It's called The Tortured Poets Department, I'm going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you."

Despite Swift's surprise announcement, some people think the audience of music royalty at Sunday's event seemed less than enthused with her revelation.

"IM CRYING WHY DO THEY LOOK BORED," wrote one person on X, formerly Twitter.

Another added: "they couldn't care less 💀 at least they're pretending."

And a third wrote: "This looks so forced for some reason?"

The Tortured Poets Department, which is a 16-track album, is currently available for pre-order and will drop on April 19.

After her announcement—and much like every other major Swift event online, including trying to buy tickets for The Eras World Tour and subsequent concert movie—her fans were met with major technical glitches as they tried to pre-order the album.

Swift made history later on in the evening by becoming the first person to win Album of the Year for the fourth time.

She looked shocked and happy to accept the award for her album Midnights from singing legend Celine Dion.

She thanked her long-time collaborator, Jack Antonoff, and praised the other nominees including, Lana Del Rey.

"I would love to tell you that this is the best moment in my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love or when I'm shotlisting a music video, or when I'm rehearsing with my dancers or my band or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show," Swift said in her acceptance speech.

"For me, the award is the work," she said. "All I want to do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much. It makes me so happy.

"It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award too. All I want to do is keep doing this. So thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do what I love so much… mind blown."
